Founded: 1828 (ESTABLISHED FACT) Location: Campbeltown, Scotland Founder: John and William Mitchell
Founded in 1828 by the Mitchell brothers in Campbeltown. Springbank is one of only three remaining distilleries in Campbeltown (once home to 30+) and is entirely family-owned by J&A Mitchell & Co. Springbank is one of the few distilleries to carry out every step of production on site — malting, mashing, fermentation, distillation, maturation, and bottling. Known for a lightly peated, complex, slightly salty character. (source: Wikipedia)
Signature style: Complex, lightly peated, briny — fruit, malt, earthy smoke, sea salt, mechanical/oily notes.
Famous expressions: Springbank 10 Year, Springbank 15 Year, Springbank Local Barley, Longrow (heavily peated variant), Hazelburn (unpeated variant).
Trivia: Springbank carries out 100% of production on site — floor malting, mashing, distillation, maturation, and bottling — making it one of the few truly “campbeltown” scale vertically integrated distilleries. — ESTABLISHED FACT
